Marianne Barcellona, a painter, will present at Bend Art Center Monday, October 16 at 6:00 p.m. Barcellona grew up in Dallas, Texas and earned a B.A. from Oberlin College. She moved to New York City, her base for years as she traveled the globe as a freelance editorial photographer on assignment for major magazines, cultural and humanitarian organizations, and corporations. In the late 1990s she earned a Certificate in Painting from the New York Studio School. Since then she has used both her photography and her painting as vehicles to register her own sense of being a witness to the mystery and beauty she has encountered. She loves travel, and her experiences of unfamiliar cultures and landscapes provide inspiration for her artwork. Barcellona has been awarded fellowships at ten internationally renowned artist residences, and her work has been included in over 75 exhibitions.
