Born in 1991, Emma grew up in a Mennonite family in the cornfields of Northern Indiana. After receiving her B.A. in Art, Environmental Science, and Social Policy from Goshen College, Emma began her own small farm at the nearby retirement home and illustrated on the side for local magazines and publications. She taught drawing and comics for Goshen Youth Arts during the winter. Last year, Emma moved to Portland, OR as an MFA candidate at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. She currently is working in book arts, fibers, and drawing. Emma wishes she were a dog most days, though, or perhaps a fat, wild mustang. However, she continues to wake up human, so she makes some art instead.
