Enjoy PLAYA’s Great Basin Natural History Weekend on May 24-26, 2019, in partnership with High Desert Museum. This is a guided tour of birding, geology, and archeological hotspots in Summer Lake and surroundings, led by renown ornithologist and PLAYA Board Member Dr. Pepper Trail. Enjoy and learn from the guided interpretive stops around Summer Lake Area and other sites as researched by Dr. Trail.
Dr. Trail is well known in Oregon birding circles, having been featured in articles in Audubon, National Geographic, and other birding and adventure journals. He’s been called the Sherlock Holmes of bird crime, as he works around the world in bird-crime investigative forensics. He’s also an accomplished, published poet and popular radio show host.
The $250 per-person fee ($400 double occupancy) includes a private cabin on the beautiful playa, Friday and Saturday night dinners in the PLAYA Commons building, and full in-cabin kitchen for preparing your own breakfasts and sack lunches.
Registration is limited to eight people on a first-come, first-served basis, with full payment at the time of registration through the High Desert Museum website. For cancellations requested no later than two weeks in advance, the fee is refundable, minus a $25 administrative charge.
