Katharine Spilker is a visual artist native to Washington State, currently living in Bellingham on Coastal Salish and Nooksack tribal land. They received a double degree in English Literature and Painting & Drawing from the University of Washington in 2016. Katharine is interested in exploring the nature of relationship in their visual work as well as their writing—more specifically how memory, trauma, power, and desire interact and change within relationship, and how that can be explored through the manipulation and observation of materials, both natural and found. In 2018 they had a solo show, “Signs of Feeling” at the Terrain Gallery in Spokane, WA. They have been an artist-in-residence at Sou’Wester Arts Week in Seaview, WA., PLAYA in Summer Lake, OR., and this coming year will be at the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild in Woodstock, NY.
