Melody Owen has a BA in Photography from the University of Oregon and an MFA in Electronic Integrated Arts from Alfred University in New York. She is currently working towards a second Masters degree, this one in Environmental Arts and Humanities. Her main concern is with the crucial importance and simultaneous fragile state of our earth and all of its interconnected, living parts. She is currently researching philosophical thought on animal/human relations and animal minds. She works in the mediums of video, animation, photography, collage, installation, sculpture, curating, writing, collecting, drawing and publishing. She has exhibited work at art museums, festivals and galleries worldwide and won several awards. She has books published by Publication Studio, Future Tense/Scout Books and Container Corps, and has participated in artist residencies in Paris, Quebec, Switzerland, and Iceland.
