This residency includes a 4 night stay in cabin #5, participation in a Dark Sky Guided Viewing session on Friday, Oct. 4 with experts from Pine Mountain Observatory and Friday group dinner prepared by PLAYA’s house chef. On Saturday Oct. 4, 6-8 pm, enjoy PLAYA’s Community Dark Sky Star Party and join in the activities and cozy treats while meeting local neighbors and friends. 

Arrival begins Thursday, Oct. 3 at 2:00 pm

Departure is Monday, Oct. 7 by 12:00 pm.

Choose “single” for single occupancy and meal and group activity participation for ONE person

Choose “double” for double occupancy and meal and group activity participation for TWO people.

  • Friday, Oct. 4, 2023: Morning orientation| Day on your own | 6:00 pm Group Dinner provided by PLAYA | 7-9 pm Guided Dark Sky Viewing Session with experts from Pine Mountain Observatory.
  • Saturday, Oct. 5, 2023: Day on your own | 6-8 pm Community Dark Sky Star Party
  • Sunday, Oct. 6, 2023: Day on your own
  • Monday, Oct. 7 2023: Depart by noon

 

 This self-directed residency is for ADULTS ONLY. Out of town families wishing to participate in the Community Dark Sky Star Party on Oct. 14 can find lodging accommodations at the Summer Lake Hot Springs or the Paisley Sage Rooms

This spacious 1 bedroom cabin is part of the southern trio of cabins that faces the playa. It has a queen bed, a full kitchen with dining table and chairs and a large bathroom with a shower. Includes a large writing/work desk in the living room as well as a small art and writing studio off of the bedroom. Enjoy the private wrap-around deck with expansive views of the playa and the surrounding mountains. This cabin can sleep up to 4 people with use of the full-size fold-out futon in the living room and a twin cot that can be placed either in the living room or the art/writing studio.

*Please note that the tub room has been converted into a writing/art studio. The tubs have been removed in an effort to conserve water in support of our environmental mission. Only non-toxic art materials can be used in the studio.

Orientation on Friday at 10:00 to meet the other residents and learn important campus information.
