Sonora Jha, Ph.D., is a novelist, a political essayist, and a professor of journalism at Seattle University. She was a journalist in India and Singapore before moving to the U.S. for her Ph.D. in political communication. She is the author of the novel Foreign (Random House India, 2013) and her OpEds and political essays have been published in The New York Times, Seattle Times, Seattle Weekly, and The Establishment. She is the 2016-18 Writer in Residence at Richard Hugo House, Seattle, and is the winner of the Barry Lopez Award at Playa Summer Lake, Oregon. Sonora is at work on a second novel and a memoir.
