Barbara Holmes (she/her) is a Southern California-based artist and educator with over two decades of experience in the arts. She holds a BFA from Brigham Young University and an MFA from San Diego State University and is currently a professor of art and design at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA. Barbara’s artwork has been exhibited internationally and has earned her residencies at I-Park, Facebook, the Capital City Arts Initiative, Recology, and Anderson Ranch Arts Center. Known for reimagining discarded materials and construction waste, Barbara’s practice imbues these elements with renewed context and meaning. Her work is held in permanent collections at institutions including SFMOMA, Recology, and Facebook, as well as by private collectors worldwide. Presently, she is researching and exploring themes on natural resource consumption and the environmental impacts of anthropic activity in the Great Basin region.
