Throughout her career, Dede Lucia’s paintings has embraced nature culture as the primordial touchstone incorporating all systems of birth, growth, change, and death, fulfilling an existential call to both resistance and acceptance of life’s audacious purpose. Through the lens art historical referents, her paintings interrogate the suffering, ambiguity, and awe of cultural despondency in the increasingly instable reality of climate change.
Dede Lucia (she/her, b.1973) is a graduate of Bluffton University (BA, 1995) University of Washington (MPA, 2012) and California State University where she received an MFA in Painting in 2022.
