Geordi Helmick is a digital artist, dancer, and maker originally from Chandler, Arizona. They received a BFA in Art and Technology from University of Oregon in June of 2020. Geordi explores relationships between the body, technology, and the natural world through performance, interactive installations, multi-channel videos, and playful objects. Somatic research and mind-body connection are integral to their process. Geordi works as the Technical Sciences Fabrication Lab Manager at University of Oregon and helps run the Knight Campus Incubator Residency in partnership with the Center for Art Research. Geordi’s artwork articulates aspects of their experiences being feminine-presenting and queer working in the fields of technical sciences and fabrication. Their proximity to scientific research labs influences their artistic research in both material and subject.
