Haena Kang is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. She has exhibited in New York City, Ann Arbor, Portland, Auburn and Taipei.
Colors, patterns, and anything texture, have always peaked Haena’s interest. Her maker’s instinct guided her to attend The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, where she majored in painting and drawing.
After college, she delved into the design world. Little did she realize that her design background would heavily influence and inform her future art. As Haena has evolved, so have her work and creative processes. Illustrative paintings morphed to include more undulating shapes, creating Haena’s current painting style—a marriage of the organic, abstract, illustrative, colorful and thoughtful.
Her shift into intertwining different skill sets enables her deep appreciation for colors, and their relationships with layers to manifest in all her work. She recently finished a fellowship at Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts.
