Hannah Steele (she/they) is a researcher and artist studying snow hydrology and water management. Using GIS, remote sensing, machine learning, and participatory methods, their work focuses on improved measurement and modeling of mountain snowpack and water availability timing in Eastern Oregon. Through their research they seek to better understand the intersections of lived experience, scientific measurement, and how landscapes and water resources change over time. They strive to use their knowledge and skills to promote dialogue and collaboration between scientists and communities, as well as balanced land and water management.
