Isabel (she/her) is a PhD candidate at the University of Waterloo examining the tradeoffs of conservation and development. Her work focuses on terminal lakes (lakes without an outlet), like Summer Lake, and the drivers of their decline. While at PLAYA, Isabel will be writing up her research identifying which migratory waterbirds are sensitive to changes in surface water extent of these terminal lakes. She is excited to gain creative perspective on her work through the interdisciplinary environment at PLAYA.
