On Friday, September 29 at 6:30 pm PLAYA will host environmental author John Elder for an evening of discussion and debate as part of PLAYA’s grant from Oregon Humanities to create community conversations. Elder is sought-after as a speaker on environmental topics. Recent titles include Reading the Mountains of Time and Frog Run in which he blends landscape description, and the discussion of literature with memoir. When not farming maple syrup on his Vermont farm, Elder teaches at the Breadloaf School of English and the Breadloaf Writers’ Conference in Middlebury, Vermont. He previously taught English and Environmental Studies at Middlebury College and Writers Conference.
