Katy Yoder worked for Sisters Folk Festival for the past 11 years putting on events and fundraising for arts-related education and scholarships for at-risk children. Nothing fed her soul more than telling the stories of the children the non-profit helped. She recovered from breast cancer in 2014 and began writing a column for the Nugget Newspaper about life after cancer. She found cancer to be a compelling truth serum and motivator to put writing first. Katy has never known life without a horse nearby. The recent death of her Mustang, Willow inspired her to tell their shared stories of tough times and the blessings that got them through. She received a BS in Journalism from Cal Poly and plans on using her curious nature to explore what happens when you step into the unknown.
