Lisa Wells is an augur and performance artist living in Corvallis, Oregon. Her multimedia work mixes meditation, movement, videography, still photography, drawing and writing to create stories about place and people within place. She has a PhD in geology and has traveled the world studying humans and the landscapes they inhabit. She uses the word Augury to describe her work because it invokes the ancient art of reading the signs of the world. Her magic is translating what the world is saying into a form that inspires others to pay attention. The practice itself looks like meditation, walking, and dancing on the land, taking photographs and making drawings, making short videos of landscapes, animals, bugs, and herself dancing on the land, and writing prose and poetry to weave the stories together.
