Molly (she/her) investigates the universe from a child-like perspective of wonder. Observation is at the root of her practice. She receives the majority of her inspiration from looking deeply at the world, and asking herself questions about what she sees. She bounces between the abstract and the representational to explore philosophical, scientific, cultural, and spiritual quandaries. In her studio, she plays with many mediums, finding endless joy exploring through her sense of touch. Through a laborious tempo, she gathers a deep knowledge for materials, methods, and tools. Molly is trained as a craftsperson. She received her BFA in printmaking from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2020. She has been working as a bronze foundry artisan at Arcosanti, in the high desert of Arizona, since 2021. For Molly, this physical craft based work is deeply tied to her observational practice, and her philosophical pondering. It is not uncommon for Molly to be guiding a tool through a piece of wood and be reminded of a Taoist text, or to be attempting to teach herself basket weaving in a field and thinking about decomposition and the stars. She hopes that her art practice inspires others to have a deep curiosity in the universe. She believes that when you find awe in something, you revere it in a new way, and take better care.
